What Is Rule Of Thirds

Ahhaaa... Rule Of 3rd...What can I say this rule is really useful. It is used widely not only in photography but in videography and also in painting ..How its worked?...the concept is breaking an image into third (3×3)...horizontally and vertically. So there will 9 parts. But again how we are going to use it???...Now see the diagram below. We call it 'The Rule of  thirds'..Every point we can find in this rule we call it as a point of interest...

This rule is easy to use because we only put the subject into any one of the intersection point we want.So the picture will look natural and more interesting. Many experiment have shown that our eyes will attract to only one of the intersection point and thats why we call it as a point of interest.Where our views attract to the point. So we need to put our subject to any point in the rule of third. We can see it trough our viewfinder or live view when we have setup our camera to make the grid line appear. For me, I love to applied this method in portraiture because this method is really good in creating good composition. For more understanding in Rule of Thirds let see some example:

Hopefully these pictures can make us understand more about the rule of thirds...Remember this wise philosophy-if you intend to break a rule you should always learn it first to make sure your breaking of it is all the more effective
